Recently, UWLE was asked to participate in the International Leadership Program, Women Leaders: Promoting Peace and Security. Several board members sat down to visit with a group of women from the Philippines ranging in leadership roles, such as Chief Executive Officer, Education and Administration, and Mayor. UWLE learned about the process of how individuals become officers, jail conditions in the Philippines, and special programs to assist women and children that may have been abused, attacked, or homeless. The UWLE board members described the leadership structure of law enforcement, as well as, the difference between a Sheriff and Mayor and their impact on the communities and their officers. UWLE also explained various state laws, juvenile and adults. UWLE board members were enlightened and honored to have the experience to talk with this amazing group of women and wish them the best of luck in their careers. “When women support each other, incredible things happen.” -Anonymous
